Across town, Ghost and Marcus paced around on a small square rooftop. Ghost turned to Marcus. "Is Vanco going to be a problem?"
Marcus thought for a moment. "I don't know. There were many like her when we took the city. I killed many of them."
"How did you take the city? You never talk about the wars."
Marcus shrugged. "It is not something I like talking about. We kept our numbers low then. Only a dozen operated in the city. I was one of them, and Kingpin didn't want us making much noise."
"So, few knew of you?"
"Almost none," Marcus said. "We avoided the larger families for a while. The Kingpin picked people, and we assassinated them at will. We would plant evidence at the crime scene. Never enough to send someone to jail, but enough to make some suspect a particular family."
"City must have been a powder keg when you were done." Ghost smiled and chuckled a little.
"And all while our leader, Imamu, went to the smaller crime families."
"The Doyles, Lucateros, and Rossis?" Ghost asked.
"And a few others. Vanco came later. We needed soldiers, and they wanted to make more money. When the city caught fire and the powder keg blew, we had an army ready."
"Imamu retired after, nominated me for the jade ring. One day I will do the same for you."
Ghost stopped. "I'm a killer, not meant to hold meetings and decide strategies."
Marcus turned toward Ghost. "I was nothing more than a killer when I took over. You are ready."
"Thank you." Ghost bowed to Marcus. "I will honor you."
Marcus chuckled. "I will speak to the council. As a precaution, look after Haruna Wu. I don't want Vanco going after her again."
