[DATE OF THIS IS UNKNOWN AS IT IS NOTHING MORE BUT A SMUDGE OF INK]
Armory inspection concluded.
Most of the blades had remained sharp and properly maintained despite the lack of fresh whetstones. The soldiers have taken care of their own equipment with obsession. Perhaps their weapons are the only thing left that hasn't abandoned them.
Inventory as follows.
- Blades - Serviceable, Minor corrosion observed on several reserve racks.
- Spears and Polearms - Shaft wear noted, though still combat-ready.
- Shield - Still in good condition.
- Plumbatae - Taken and refitted after conquering the Empire of Sythigians, our ammunition is running low, and these weapons are difficult to maintain; only a few are operational.
- Scorpio - Our last War Engines, our prized trophy, one given to us after the Campaign in Sythgia, is lost as we were forced to fall back. The fate of this prized war engine is either that it has fallen into the hands of the Bastard XV or that it has been lost; its crew's fate is unknown, but I pray they return to the safety of our walls soon.
Though the rest of the arsenals we had are leftover weapons of the Sythgians, they'll make do for now.
I despise admitting it, but their people knew their craft. Our artificers had managed to restore some of their pieces to working order, though complaints continue among the ranks regarding their strange mechanism and tendency to fail after prolonged use.
The men curse them, then use it anyway.
Such is war.
Armor inspection is less generous. On the other hand, too many patched cuirasses. Too many helmets are carrying dents that should kill their users. We lack proper replacement materials and are forced to salvage from the dead.
As if the fortress we are stationed in fares no better.
Morale suffers accordingly as our veteran complained louder.
I cannot blame them. This fortress is miserable.
Yet somehow, we endure.
Supply projection estimates.
- Grain - twenty-three days
- Salted meat - eleven days
- Lamp Oil - critically low.
- Medical stores - insufficient.
