Trinisec Company, Dentoura Mineral Company, Rucker Terraworks, and nearly every active mining corporation on Mars commit to war, all vying for control of the resources on Mars.
The Conflict
Prelude
The seeds of the war were sown on Mars approximately fifteen years before the turn of the era, following the dismissal of a murder case levied against Trinisec Company by Rucker Terraworks. Henry Meyer, an licensing liaison under the employ of Rucker was killed by Trinisec's contracted security forces and subsequently accused of corporate espionage. The ordeal led to unrest among Rucker Terraworks and several of the other, smaller mining corporations operating on Mars and accusations of corruption against the administrative staff of the newly-completed Nesos I orbital station, some of whom were thought to have a vested interest in Trinisec avoiding legal repercussions.
The situation continued to fester for the next seven years before coming to a head on November 17th, eight years before unification, when another alteraction involving Trinisec and Dentoura Mineral Company ended violently. One week later, Trinisec, Dentoura, Rucker, and several other corporations unveiled their expansive and well-equipped corporate militaries and contractor forces and the war saw its first real battles begin.
Combat between the various participating megacorporations occurred all throughout settled space, though much of the most brutal fighting happened on the surface and in the orbit of Mars as well as on and around Praxis Alpha.
While the majority of the fighting was done by ground troops, there was no shortage of combat taking place in the air and space, which is what ultimately led to the fall of Nesos I to the surface of Mars. The brutality reached as far as Praxis Alpha as well, with the station sustaining massive damage after peace talks fell though, though the damage was not critical.
Historical Significance
Memories of the war endure as part of the Frontier Day memorial held every year on January 17th, but the founding of the
CMND is often viewed as true legacy of the war.
Start Date
November 22nd, 8 Years Before Unification
Ending Date
August 10th, 4 Months Before Unification
Conflict Result
Corporate war efforts were halted by guerrilla tactics employed by dissenting organizations.
Note: Though generally not considered as part of the collateral damage caused by the war, some believe that the malfunction of the Eleria orbital station's mass gravity turbine and the station's destruction to have been orchestrated by Dentoura as the spouse of a high-ranking Trinisec board member is alleged to work on the station. This information has never been corroborated, however.
