Syndic
An elected official responsible for the governing of an assigned sector of space including both stellar objects and artificial installations such as satellites, lightfold rail stations, and security checkpoints.
Appointment
Syndics are elected by popular vote conducted throughout the proposed governed sector, which may or may not change as part of each election cycle, as the particular composition of a given sector may change based on the orbit of the objects within that sector. As such, outlying sectors tend to see fewer sweeping changes and can be seen as more "politically stable."
