Kicking off my Summer Camp Prep with reignited passion.
I'd be honored if y'all would join me on this ride!
Kicking off my Summer Camp Prep with reignited passion.
I'd be honored if y'all would join me on this ride!
Summer Camp has wrapped up, and I’m still buzzing with excitement! This year, my world of Crux Umbra was honored with three article category awards and the Community Award for Most Inspiring World - a truly unforgettable recognition.
While winning is amazing, what really made this experience special were the people who shared it with me.
I want to give a heartfelt thank you to:
A big thank you to the whole World Anvil community. Your support, ideas, and enthusiasm are what make this platform so magical. Summer Camp, and really any challenge, wouldn’t be the same without all of you.
And of course, the World Anvil team, for hosting such an inspiring event and giving us all the space to create, explore, and challenge ourselves.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be over here, sipping too much coffee and trying to figure out how to cram even more lore into my brain because you know what?? WORLDEMBER IS COMING
#summercamp2025 #worldbuildingAfter earning a hard fought silver badge for Summer Camp this year, I was prepared to be content with that. With only sixteen articles, I wasn't sure the odds were in my favor for snagging an award, too. Luckily, I was wrong, and one of my more polished entries was chosen as winner in its category.
Answering the prompt "a ritual that has changed meaning over time," it delves into the popular Poliran holiday, Gloaming. Set on an intercalary day that doesn't seem to fit anywhere, Gloaming is a fun-filled celebration centered on liminality which stands everything on its head for a little bit .
Massive congratulations to all of the winners this Summer Camp! Tough competition this year. It was so nice to see such a variety in unique authors winning, but props to Imagica, for winning three prompts and Most Inspiring World, with Crux Umbra!
I'm super happy to have won a prompt, myself! My Magical Surge article brought me a win this year, and I'm very proud of that. Unfortunately this wasn't one of my better years in Summer Camp, I'm not feeling overly proud of my work as a whole.
The rules I initially set for myself at the beginning of the event pushed me to my limits, causing me to struggle just one week into the competition. That led me to basically flop about the rest of July and August, struggling to write anything truly meaningful. Next year I'm going to go back to what I do best, which is writing shorter, concise articles. I've been told I write short articles well, which reassures me!
And now we have a fun new challenge to look forward to! Elves VS Aliens? I'm Team Aliens, which one are you?
Hello everyone! It's been a while but I'm joining the last-day gang with my own reading challenge. Enjoy these articles, and give them some love! I will probably read and add more articles to it later because I didn't get to read as much as I wanted.
Happy reading and happy worldbuilding!
Well folks, it’s finally ready! It took me a while, but I managed to finish my reading challenge article just before the deadline. Cheers!
I tried to read as many submissions as I could from the hundreds of wonderful creators on this platform. It was a fun experience, though the time limit did stress me out a bit. I’m hoping to set aside more time over the next few weeks to enjoy even more of your stories.
With the sand trickling down in the reading challenge hourglass, it’s time for a side quest!
Join me as we try the Dorian staple, "Forager's dish", inspired by my entry for this prompt.
Cheers!
Completed my reading challenge and doubled it, because there were too many good articles for me to limit myself at 10. Even at 20 it was a struggle lol. I also explained my plans for the rest of the year for Chronicles of Hysal, but also for the new setting that i'm cooking up!
Hello wonderful people.
I know I am late, but I 've finally managed to compile an article with all of my entries for Summer Camp 2025.
I am furiously working on my list for the reading challenge as well!
Hope to finish it before the deadline. There are so many submissions and I am trying my best to read as many as I can.
I 've already found some hidden gems and I 'll be glad to write about them soon.
Until then, I hope you enjoy some of my articles along with some commentary.
Got my Summer Camp 2025 Reading Challenge done in record time this year! Lots of good stuff to choose from . I wanted to add more, but I have a prompt to judge! #summercamp #SummerCamp2025
Finished my summer camp reading challenge today! There have been some stellar articles written this year; come check out some of my favorites! #SummerCamp
Shucks!!! Missed the #summercamp2025 Cut-Off today I was hoping to submit this article: (A Myth surrounding Birth of a Character in your world...)
And with this #8, I close out #SummerCamp2025 with my longest article of the event. There is probably more that can be said and will be said about this superpower of an organization. One of the first factions I ever thought of for this world during its inception long ago. #Magic
I still have a lot more to put into this world, many articles to update with art assets etc, when the time and opportunity arises. I am forever grateful for #WorldAnvil for giving me this platform to share my world with you all. I hope you all enjoy!
#7 complete for #SummerCamp2025. Time is running out one more to go for my pledged goal, but for now enjoy the council tower and little tidbit about the Eternal Queen.
> Issue 12 - One year of DPR reports!
Follow the Legends of the Dragonguard for updates, challenges, and more!
Can’t believe it's been one year of DPR reports!! And, Summer Camp is just about over, so it's time to read everyone’s submissions.
I didn’t make my goal of silver for this year’s Summer Camp, but I did at least get copper, so I’m happy with that.
I also started featuring other Anvilite’s work that I like on my world’s homepage (and discord), every Tuesday I’ll pick a new thing to feature, and write a little blurb about it and what I liked (I did forget one week because it was a day before I left for a family reunion).
I’ll list the articles featured this past month below! There’s also a form post you can check out to see all the previous featured things.

Glory belongs to those who wield a blade with divine expertise. 6th article for #SummerCamp2025 There is much more I want to say about these blade masters but this will have to do for now.
I haven't dropped a community update for a long time, but I think it's time. I've earned my diamond bade + 1. I have 33 edited articles submitted with all the quotes. I may add images or updates here and there, but I'm basically done for now. I'd love you guys to take a look and let me know what you think. How're you guys doing?
Y'all, I don't even know what to say. I've been working so hard on the Yonderverse since I joined World Anvil, 4 years, 4 months, and a week ago. AKA 1,590 days ago.
That's an average of 628 words per day. Not entirely accurate, considering I've missed many days here and there, but I've been pretty darn consistent with this project, taking a week off at most from it at any one time.
I can't thank people enough for supporting my silly little project. Guess I can't call it little anymore! But seriously though, the Yonderverse is by far the best thing I've ever created. I've never given up this much time and effort on a single project, and it is easily the most impressive thing I've achieved.
Like, I've created a world. Everything you read is mine, I've written this. I've thought of hundreds of interesting planets, peoples, thousands of creatures, created conflicts, love, between characters and organisations. Sometimes I stop and think about it, and I realise just how powerful being a worldbuilder is.
But yeah, I'm so excited! I can't wait to see where this world goes. Last night I hit Diamond in this year's Summer Camp, so I'll be polishing my existing entries until the deadline. While I'm judging my prompt, I'll be working on some exciting commissions I've got right now! Aaaand while I'm doing both of those, I'm hopping right back into the Yonderverse Overhaul and polishing up all the old, crap parts of my world. I'll be making more time to write brand new content while I'm polishing old stuff, as I need to find a better balance. But that's next month's problem!
Happy writing everyone!
5th Summer Camp article. A subculture of a refugee people who are trying to blend rather than return to their ancestral home. #SummerCamp2025
Currently, up to 5 summer camp articles. I only need 3 more to reach my goal of the copper rank!
Just Finished my 5th Article for #Summercamp2025. Slow but sure Life has got me pretty busy but hoping to get bronze at least.
Hello everyone!
This is my second year in this lovely, amazing community but first ever post - so it's only fitting that it's all about Summer Camp. When we all began this month of creativity I'd been stuck in a writer's block for ages and nothing felt fun anymore. My novel was stuck. My words never came out right. It's been a little bleak, but the support I found with you all gave me the energy to take my notebook into the forest and start to write. Why was I stuck? What questions remained that I wasn't sure of? What other corners could I flee to when the main setting felt too overwhelming? Enter Summer Camp!
A copper badge has become a silver one and while I hope I can keep going towards gold, I also have a film to shoot all week heh. This is my progress so far and I hope they're worth something, they sure are to me. Especially the Nyrrah. I'd love to meet one in real life.
Ok I set myself five goals for #SummerCamp2025 , three of which are in my complete control. I am happy and proud to report I have met the first of my goals. Diamond met with 32 prompts complete. On to 40!!!
Well, i achieved Silver!
I just published my 16th article earlier today, and i am now half-way to my SC goal of 32 articles. Its going great so far(we'll see what the prompts are tomorrow, and i hope your Summer Camp is going great as well!
Here's the article that got me to Silver:
New article for #SummerCamp2025!
A cataclysmic war between a fantasy world and a technologically advanced invader (think GATE, but with actual resistance), with paladins destroying tanks, automata and golems getting obliterated by drone strikes, and ending with THREE tactical nukes being detonated over a singing desert, and both factions fighting to a stalemate; a tense cold war between the two factions now prevails.
Visit it here!
July of this year marks a few important milestones for Shiftrex and I here on WA:
Isekai officially broke 1,000,000 words last week! 4 days before Isekai turned 6, we finally hit the craziest milestone. This doesn't mean we're done, far from it, and you can continue to expect some crazy work in the years to come.
Summer Camp is also going swimmingly. 17 articles submitted with a handful drafted in the background. If you want to follow my journey and see some of the newest articles that made us hit the big word count milestone, check out my SC hub.
Thank you to everyone who has kept pushing us over the years to reach such an incredible number. I still cannot believe we've made it this far.
Morning Campers!!! Hope you all are finding all the inspiration you need! Curious which prompt has been the most fun so far? For me it was writing the animal celebrity and I dont care what any witnesses may say. I did NOT get misty-eyed writing it! So what has been the most enjoyable in your world-building during #SummerCamp2025?
Busy with life and care of elderly parents who no longer know how to care for themselves. Despite this I did get a late start into week two of #summercamp2025 and got my first Article posted in my world of Evermyst for the event. Looking forward to get as many done as I can but not as many as I would like to for sure.
A bit on a roll here. 4th article "down" as always more can be done and I will return eventually. I hope you all enjoy my take on magical therapy. #SummerCamp2025 #Nourishment #Therapy
3rd article complete!I hope the flow works. This is a long one, I want to save some information for other articles but here is one of the Elysian, deities considered to be Demigods. A playboy turned god who has fathered many many children. #SummerCamp2025 #SummerCamp #Roots
After a tumultuous first week of July, I've finished the 8 main prompts for the Copper wave! I plan on going back for the wild cards later, but for now we'll be moving on to the Silver wave! You can catch my SC tracker linked on Edda's homepage , but I'll also be posted the article blocks down below for your enjoyment! Here's to many more prompts to come!
Okay so first things first, belated articles from Week One of #SummerCamp25
An infamous prison that has a bloody history and a very quiet (but still unpleasant) present.
In happier news, perfume.
I'm off to a slow start but that's fairly normal for me, because I spend a lot of time doing like... support for stuff I didn't know I was going to write. For example, I'm about to start an article about a character with a bunch of kids, but first I had to figure out what he looks like, and then I had to figure out where he is, which then led me to doing a major CSS overhaul of the maps (not done yet, but mostly functional) and now that that's more or less in place...
Now I can write the article.
Anyway, as usual, focusing on my #DarkFantasy world, but I'm still looking for an excuse to touch on my more bright and shiny world as well. We'll see if I can find one.
Hail!! Having a lot of fun with the prompts this year. Really quite pleased with the direction my world is going now. I BLAME Haly, the Moonlight Bard for my increase in out of the box thinking. Excited to see how everyone else is fairing during #SummerCamp2025
It's been a while...and now my first article back is a bit of a joke but its a serious condition! Trust me I've felt it in real life. Just something small to get me in the right headspace. More serious (probably) articles to come. #SummerCamp2025 #Nourishment
Summer Camp is off to a great start! 5 prompts already finished, 5 more with ideas and templates ready. I should be able to finish the first wave before the stream on Saturday.
If you wish to follow my progress in Isekai, I'm collecting all of my completed prompts here:
Happy worldbuilding to all and good luck with Summer Camp!

Follow the Legends of the Dragonguard for updates, challenges, and more!
Summer Camp is here! And it’s my first time being a sponsor! (You’ll see later)
Last year, I used my own tracker based on Graylion’s tracker. I recently made a tutorial for it a couple weeks ago, so if anyone wants to use it in their world, you can grab it here:
Inspired by Demongrey's article in his world, The Million Islands, I thought it was neat to highlight the community's favorite articles, so I did the same, with the addition of my personal favorites.
I also tweaked my homepage a little during the Summer Camp prep. I now have a featured section at the bottom, just above the community section. About every week or so, or when I remember to, I’ll feature a new article I like from the community! I wanted to give some love back to the community.
I also created a forum post listing all the previously featured items, along with my blurb about them.
I've also created a new channel/role on my Discord for featured items, so you can get notified of such things instead of checking my homepage every time. (You should totally join it!)

Day 3 of Summer Camp: A dish served in every household.
SO! This was a tough one, as a foodie that is. I love food, I love food so much I cook it whenever I am not eating fast food and I am a picky taster. I have to spice and it I have to make sure everything is perfect.
So what the heck is Weissknochla? It's actually inspired by a dish I grew up on that my mother used to make, that she learned from her mother and so on. It's a traditional dish that I took have made numerous times, but I, of course, have overcomplicated the heck out of.
So I decided to make it last night, but dumbed down and simplified to fit in my world of Belle Epoque wonderment and I would hope that I did so with this.
I don't want to share the actual name because I am sure many people will claim I just copied the recipe off some online site instead of making my own - I know how you are, internet!
But this is a nice, warm stew. Thick, creamy, chickeny...
mmmmmm... Enjoy!

Second summer camp article, I really need to come back to this one, I need to invent some names of things, my least favorite thing to do
#SummerCamp2025
There has been so much unfolding in my corner of this fine Anvil, and in the online spaces beyond, so allow me to take a moment to share my delight with you, celebrate some big wins, and ensure everyone is feeling just as FERAL as I am!
How about that, y'all? Your local owl has achieved copper on day two of Summer Camp, and I'm nowhere close to being done with these submissions — though the ideas I've put on the table are already super exciting for me! I'm making this update before slinking off to bed after a long day of writing sprints, article submissions, and other side quests, so you can expect my Summer Camp overview article to be updated with my submissions later! But do keep an eye on it throughout the event to know what I'm working on!
You can always come check out my Summer Camp competition page for links to my creations!
Members of my Twitch community convinced me (yes, it was totally THEIR sole decision, not mine, obviously) to shoot for a new challenge this year: the fabled Iron Gorge. 21 days of streaming Summer Camp content during the event. Can I do it? I guess we'll find out!
On that note, I thought I'd share my stream schedule for Summer Camp with you lovely beans, in case you wanted to stop by and watch, chat, work, or lurk with us! All times are listed in EDT(-4 GMT)!
Be sure to follow me on Twitch to know when I'm going live! The best places to follow my stream schedules and updates are my Discord server and Bluesky! Super helpful for knowing when I might or might not be running a pop-up sprint!
This upload is notably behind, but I'm committed to keeping this series moving forward! Enjoy this longform vlog where I share my adventures throughout the month as a birdie on the internet trying to do it all, while being active and aiming to thrive in spite of the many obstacles and dips that inevitably arise when you're trying to make moves forward.
In this vlog you'll find victories, heartache, goal-setting, and mixed progress.. all fun things! It's something of a vulnerable look at being a creator in a chaotic world. Subscribe to catch the May vlog, when it's all set and complete! That month was PACKED, so get ready for some fun adventures!
It seems like there are a lot of incredible campers this year that are just SO ready to start chomping on prompts, and I was so pleased to present this shiny new badge to this very excited corner of the community! Camp Feral is SO back, baby! Be sure to check out the badge's information page to get a refresher on what being FERAL means during Summer Camp, and fly these colors if they suit you!
Summer Camp is in full swing, but if you find yourself stuck with the feral energy long after the event ends, my new project might be of interest to you... join us, in the Circle of Feral Worldbuilders, a.k.a. Gnawing Lore!
Overall, whew! What a fun two days it's already been for Summer Camp, and it's not even July yet! So many folks are bringing incredible energy to the event, producing incredible work, and being wonderfully uplifting to each other.
Let's keep that community love flowing! You're already inspiring me so much in my quest for creating!

The Lucian Faith within my world of Ezre is one of my FAVORITE things I haven't written about yet - mainly because of how weird religion works in my world.
So, the thing is, there are no gods - but there are these animistic spirits called DIUM, check them out here - Dium who exist and are the manifestation of all the natural processes of the world and thus, magic is just the mortal manipulation of these processes by making deals with the spirits. So! How does faith work with that?
Well, they are teachers - scholars and such - who help ensure that the big spirit from another plane of existence doesn't scam you out of anything important, like your life or free will of that 20$ that gram-gram gave you for christmas. All the important things in life.
Read here to see the rough draft of my article before I start cleaning it up!
Come take a tour of Azalea City and see the sights.
The past few months have been SO BUSY with work that I've been completely ignoring World Anvil, and worldbuilding at all! But, July is looking pleasantly quiet for a change, so I've decided to take part in #SummerCamp after all! My world is still looking pretty bare bones, so hopefully this will help add a good bit of flavour.
Here we go folks!!! #SummerCamp2025 is here and it's time to kick open the creative floodgates and go!!
My #SummerCamp2025 prep is finally complete!
I wasn't the most punctual with the saturday releases, but I've finished in time and done what I've needed, which I think is gonna be the attitude I'm carrying for the challenge as a whole XD
I can't wait to see what the prompts are, what I'm able to create, and what the rest of you all create for this wonderful month of creativity!
Which theme are you all most looking forward to? Metamorphosis has to be my pick, there's a lot of juice in that one~
If ya'll are looking for some articles to inspire you for #SummerCamp2025, may I make some recommendations?
This first one I got is not done by me, but rather the amazing Ademal! Old Homes is a creepy tale of just one of many ways toperish in the world of Ethnis!
World Anvil Summer Camp is coming! Last year, I used my own Summer Camp tracker based on Graylion's tracker.
Just made a tutorial for it, if anyone wants to use it, you can grab it here:
I am soooo excited for Summer Camp this year! The assignments have been lining up perfectly with the Yonderverse Overhaul, too, which is lovely. We've not had a single competition this year so far (excluding WAWA, which doesn't count because it did not involve writing anything), which I find kind of crazy and I've really missed a proper World Anvil competition.
Anyways, come check out my pledge! Aiming for diamond again, to keep my streak ever since my first Summer Camp. Feel free to follow the Yonderverse too, if you want to see what I get up to next month! <3
Hello All,
I am Barbarossa Sparklebeard and I am here to announce my entry into WorldAnvil Summercamp '25! After a stressful university graduation - and six years at University - I am ready to get back in the saddle! I am excited and pumped to try my hand at worldbuilding once more!
Summer Camp has always been a fun time, but last year I was in a rut and I broke my Pure Diamond Run! Sadness abound! Not this year though, this year I am back and ready than ever! Diamond or Die-amond Trying! We can do this especially since I have the amazing Moonflower-Writing helping me out.
I am excited. I am going for Diamond and I am planning everything out and making sure everything is good and ready and solid.
Lets have a great summer camp and I will be posting all the challenges I get done here so I can help spread the inspiration! Lets do this!
Do you feel that? The slumbering creatures of the Anvil stir and awaken one by one as the ferality re-enters our domain. Week one of homework month has already begun, and I have already done my part... what about you? What are your thoughts and goals on the camp to come?
#SummerCamp #CampFeral #SummerCamp2025 #Malkora #AyunSovos #TheOwlworks
Woo! Summer Camp is coming! Just finished and submitted my prep page for the homework. :)
I'm only going for Silver this year as I have a few things going on in July. However, I'll still strive for Diamond and will try to answer as many prompts as I can! Hopefully, the laptop I ordered arrives in time, and I can do some work while I'm away.

Thankfully, the preparations I made during the first week paid off. I was able to use all of the stubs to create articles that were enough to satisfy my nerdy perfectionism. In the process I learned to count to eight, as well, and the revelation of having three not four articles gave me a chill for a hot minute!
But all is well that ends well! I made it through and the Copper badge is mine! Some small things have appeared in the heat of it all -- one of the place names (Æchinnen) is the first Old Savenian word to trace it's origin back to Ašu. The conlanging part was pretty enjoyable and it sprouted new ideas on the ancient past of the world -- how to go from a tonal, mesopotamian-like language to a celtic-sounding one, while retaining the meaning? Hopefully more on the topic soon™.
Life ain't sunshine and rainbows would be one thing and understandable, but twice in a row in a short time subverted by expectations. The first week of June welcomed me with a handful of surprizes:
Admittedly, no. 2 was the one that was the toughest to chew. As the leave from the hospital coincided with the Summer Camp Prep and later on with the Summer Camp itself it needed to be shelved. The situation demanded a bit of playing hide and seek with my job loss to not make the things worse. It involved daily visits for as long as needed, a frickin' massive ton of commuting though a loud city in a frickin' hot summer. I expected to last until the end but at the end of the day it left me too exhausted both, physically and emotionally to even consider opening the laptop.
No. 1 was pretty bad on its own -- it was hard not to take it personally, even though it was my position that was not needed anymore, not me [i[per se. My team-mates were extremely supportive at that time and when the notice period was over (it was three months!) we all almost forgot about it and shared a few laughs, despite being sad a little. I'm going to miss them. It still feels bizarre to not kick off the weeks with meetings and oscillate between remote and on-site. To kill time I've sat down to some Docker projects, one WA-related. I do hope to be able to use it as soon as possible, but life can be surprizing and I treat these projects as something special to do in spare time rather than full-time commitments.
And last, but not least, as a cherry on top, with two disasters at hand there's the heart-lightening news of finally paid mortgage. Is it of the same caliber as the former? No... But it was enough to make me feel less insecure. It also meant I could focus on the problems at hand, no. 2 in particular, and on vacation and rest thanks to the abundance of time from no. 1. I am omitting the complexities here, but they would make the story drag unnecessarily...
I write and share it all, because I think it comes with a lining, silver or otherwise. Firstly, I learned my new limits and what my priorities are in times of a shit ton of stress. Secondly, it made me appreciate life and the quality of it a lot more. And as much as I see it a cliche story-wise, it's an experience I learned to appreciate more, emotionally speaking, now that it's become part of my life's story as well. Thirdly, and finally, it taught me the importance of being able to jump between tasks, a thing or two I neglected these past years. And for many reasons, likely some spectrum related, it brings me great joy to just dance between several tasks.
Now that the worst is over, positively speaking, I can finally have some well-deserved rest. There's a job to find, yeah, sure... But before that I'll go and relax with the abundance of spare time, without the overtowering shadow of mortgage to spoil my sleep.
Get your world and yourself ready for Summer Camp!
